Canadian melodic rock act Harem Scarem has returned with news of their new album entitled ‘Thirteen’. It will be their first album of new material since ‘Hope’ in 2008. The band did return to duty last year to rerecord ‘Mood Swings’ and the tour for that album seems to have got the band up and firing again.

Things are a little different this time out as the band has decided on the PledgeMusic route. If you are unfamiliar with the PledgeMusic business plan it is a direct-to-fan music platform where artists reach out to their fanbase to enable them to complete a project. In this case the new HS album. The fan pledges to support the project and receives exclusive additional material as a thank you. For an established band with a large fanbase this can be highly effective as UK prog act Marillion demonstrated over the years with their independent funding methods.

For Harem Scarem this has been a stunning success as the band reached their pledge total within 24 hours of the launch.
