Palm Trees & Picnics (A Real Gone Sampler) Free Download →

January 07, 2016 by David Vousden in Alternative Rock, Pop, prog, singer-songwriter, Free Download

Palm Trees & Picnics is the latest sampler put together by, a good friend of Red Guitar Music, Lee over at Real Gone. The sampler is designed and complied to highlight an eclectic range of music that flies under the radar and enables the adventurous listener to discover something new. This year the sampler features 15 tracks and is available as a free download with the full co-operation of the labels and bands.

In keeping with the tone of the Real Gone site we get a wide range of tunes with  alternative / indie rock, folk and retro power pop all featured. Highlights include the quite lovely ‘Riverboat’ performed by UK folk-rock act Zero She Flies. ‘Polite Fiction’ all dark brooding twang from Old House Playground sounds like a cut from a Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk till Dawn / Desperado) movie, very Tito Larriva, and none the worse for that. The eclectic range is reinforced by Strange Majik whose ‘Country Road’ is all spacy groovy goodness with elements of soul and funk that works beautifully.

The yearly sampler is, very much, a labour of love and is well worth a listen as you never know what you might find contained within.
