South Louisiana native Rod Melancon recently inked a deal with the Blue Elan label (home of Red Guitar Music fav and Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin). His first release for the label is a 5 track EP (available for free download) which is a taster for his forthcoming album due later this year.

The five tracks on offer show the range of Melancon's song craft and his way with a story as he mixes up traditional country 'By Her Side' with the pounding hard rock of 'Lights Of Carencro' and the opening track 'Perry' which is reminiscent of 80's Springsteen. The EP was produced by Brian Whelan, former lead guitarist for Dwight Yoakum, and is available as a free download over at the official Rod Melancon site www.rodmelancon.com
