Seth Lakeman News: Deluxe album reissue, new single + Robert Plant tour

August 22, 2017 by David Vousden in Acoustic, Folk, New Single, News, Tour Dates

Seth Lakeman has been very busy indeed in the last year or so. His album 'Ballads of the Broken Few' received some of the best reviews of his career including one from RGM that can be found Here. Since the album release Lakeman has toured extensively and continues to do so. On September 15th the album will be reissued with five bonus tracks including the new single 'Everything' once again featuring Wildwood Kin. In further news Lakeman will be joining rock legend Robert Plant pulling double duty as opening act and as a member of Robert's band. A win-win situation for Lakeman fans. Further details about the album and the tour follow:

Seth Lakeman will re-release his Top 20 album ‘Ballads of the Broken Few’, with five added bonus tracks on September 15 via Cooking Vinyl. Recorded during the original album sessions, with producer Ethan Johns, the previously unreleased bonus tracks are: Gambling Man, Everything, Days Are Longer, Wake Up and Bury Me Deep.

The new album will be available on CD and digtal. Buy link: https://sethlakeman.lnk.to/BOTBFdlx

“Everything is a song about cherishing moments and the realisation that nothing lasts forever”
— Seth Lakeman

Everything, featuring Wildwood Kin - sisters Emillie and Beth Key and their cousin Meghann Loney, who were an integral part of the album recordings - will be Seth’s new single, out on September 22. This coincides with his performance at BBC Radio 2 Festival In A Day at Hyde Park on September 10.

This November, Seth will tour the UK as special guest with Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters, where he will play as part of Robert’s band and also open the shows with his own set.

“I’m honoured to be touring and performing with such a fantastic band and one of the world’s greatest music legends.”
— Seth Lakeman

Widely-praised on its release last year, ‘Ballads of the Broken Few’ showcases Seth’s dynamic song writing and playing; his soaring vocals perfectly matched by the sublime harmonies of Wildwood Kin. An epic, soulful album of compelling songs, stripped back to their essence.

Daily Mirror 4*……’thrilling contemporary cross-pollination of potent Anglo Americana’

R2 4*……’one of his very best and that’s saying something’

Since the Mercury Prize nominated "Kitty Jay" (recorded in his kitchen for £300), the follow-up gold selling "Freedom Fields" and his last, highly acclaimed offering, "Word of Mouth", a deft collection of mini musical biographies of colourful West Country characters, Seth Lakeman has relentlessly pushed his musical boundaries and those of folk and roots music. His innovative approach, ground-breaking albums and powerful live performances have put him at the forefront of the re-emergence of British folk and successfully steered it into the mainstream. With ‘Ballads of the Broken Few’ Seth demonstrated yet again that, far from being complacent, he is constantly exploring new and bold musical paths.

Seth continues his run of Summer Festivals with the following dates, then tours with Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters in November:

27 August                            Shrewsbury Festival

28 August                            Rye, International Jazz & Blues Festival

1 September                     Moseley, Folk Festival

10 September                   Hyde Park, BBC Radio 2 Festival In A Day
