Green Note presents 'Like A Woman' A musical celebration March 8th

February 21, 2018 by David Vousden in Acoustic, Americana, Country, Folk, singer-songwriter

Green Note and JW3 present an evening of music to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th at JW3 in London. IWD was officially adopted by the United Nations in 1975 but the term was first used in New York in 1909 and became more widely acknowledged after women gained suffrage (the right to vote) in Soviet Russia in 1917 where it was granted national holiday status. Singers and songwriters from as far afield as Australia and Canada will combine with the best of British at JW3 in London for an evening of original material, and a cover or two, that will capture the essence of IWD and what the day means to the artists. Further details about ticketing and the venue follow:

Green Note presents…. “Like A Woman”: A musical celebration for International Women’s Day

THURSDAY 8th MARCH, 7.30pm at JW3 – London

She’s the beautiful muse, the beloved sweetheart, and the dangerous seductress to inspire and tempt male creativity. She doesn’t exist, but she has left a huge song archive to her charms.

“She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl… ”
— Bob Dylan

Join The Magic Numbers co-founder Michele Stodart, iconic and enigmatic Canadian artist Jane Siberry, award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Emily Barker, hotly-tipped Salford songstress Ren Harvieu, Mercury Prize nominate British artist Kathryn Williams, powerful and compelling English singer/songwriter Karima Francis, and multi-instrumentalist front-woman of Art-Rock band Moulettes, Raevennan Husbandes, for an evening of salvaging and reinterpreting these songs about the girl.

The evening will include original material from the artists, plus an interesting and eclectic array of cover songs pertinent to the theme. This promises to be a unique and very special evening of music… Not to be missed!
