Canadian trio The East Pointers recently released a new single ‘Wintergreen’ from their upcoming third album due late 2019. The guys are on the top of their game with ‘Wintergreen’ a track that beautifully melds their modern take on a traditional folk sound with a catchy pop hook. The single is an ideal taster for the album ‘Yours To Break’ which I’ve been lucky enough to hear and East Pointers fans are in for a real treat as the album delivers superb vocal harmonies, impressive instrumental chops and, most importantly, great songs. In other good news, the trio will return to the UK in January of 2020 for a run of dates. More about The East Pointers and those tour dates follow:
Wintergreen, produced by Grammy Award-winning Gordie Sampson (LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts), is a fresh and vibrant take on folk music, bringing the bands furious live show energy to a song. But at the core, Wintergreen is about offering a light in the darkness to those who need it.
Wintergreen is available from all the usual digital platforms.
The East Pointers are comprised of fiddler/singer Tim Chaisson, banjoist Koady Chaisson and guitarist Jake Charon. Known for their blistering live shows and palpable authenticity, the band has performed over 450 shows in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, UK, Europe, Mexico, United States and Canada.
The folk trio have been collecting a steady stream of accolades since the release of their debut album Secret Victory including, a 2017 JUNO Award for Traditional Roots Album of the Year as well as a 2019 East Coast Music Award for Song of the Year for ‘Two Weeks’ and a 2016 Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year.
