The Unthanks All Dayer September 2023

One weekend. Two Cities. Three Albums.

To mark the occasion of the reissue of three albums on vinyl for the first time, as well as 24-page CD book packaging, The Unthanks will perform a pair of one-of-a-kind concerts (two-of-a-kind?) in Gateshead on September 9th and the Barbican in London the following day. Tickets for both shows go on sale at 10 AM on Friday, April 7th, for an event no fan of the duo will want to miss. Full details of the various ticketing possibilities follow, including more about the albums, special guests etc.

Whether its the The Sage Gateshead on the Saturday 9th September or The Barbican London on Sunday 10th, there are just two chances to experience a special day with The Unthanks.

Celebrating the reissue of three classic albums, a one-time-only reformed Rachel Unthank & The Winterset will perform Mercury-nominated album The Bairns in the afternoon, while The Unthanks will perform Here’s The Tender Coming and Last in the evening show.

The day starts with The Unthanks big singalong on the concourse with all welcome to join in or enjoy, plus there will a Q&A hosted by a notable admirer of the band, and performances during the day from Lucy Farrell and Devon Sproule, who both supported The Unthanks over the period that the three records were originally released.

These exclusive events mark the reissue of three albums which were originally licensed to EMI on a ten year deal that has now elapsed, giving The Unthanks chance to release all three on vinyl for the first time, as well as a 24 page CD book, both with exclusive new content and forewords from Charles Hazelwood, Martin Freeman and Nick Hornby.

Mercury Music Prize nominated The Bairns was the only British folk album to feature in The Guardian and Uncut’s Albums Of The Decade. Here’s The Tender Coming was 2009 Mojo Folk Album of Year, while 2011's Last was described by Q Magazine as "their best album.. bewitching and hugely ambitious”, and by The Sunday Express as a “gorgeously unhurried, utterly mesmerising masterpiece.”

Tickets can be bought for either the afternoon or evening performance. Put both in your basket to get the All Day Discount and receive all the other activities included for free!
