US Country star Joe Nichols will visit the UK for the first time in September 2019 for a short run of intimate acoustic shows. The singer, best known for hits such as ‘Brokenheartsville’ and ‘Tequila makes her clothes fall off’, has nine albums under his belt in a career that dates back to the early 90s. Nichols’ most recent album ‘Never Gets Old’ and the following ‘Never Gets Old' - Traditional Country Series’ highlight his love of old-school country as he covers Don Williams and Merle Haggard etc. Tickets for the UK tour are on sale April 5th at 10 am. Folk-Americana singer-songwriter Danny Schmidt has announced a May 2019 UK tour in support of his widely acclaimed ‘Standard Deviation’ album. The hectic tour includes dates as far afield as Bristol, Edinburgh and Whitstable so he should be coming to a town near you. ‘Standard Deviation’ is Danny’s tenth studio album (ninth as a solo artist) and builds on the success of his 2015 release ‘Owls’. Acoustic duo Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage will be bringing their single-microphone show to intimate UK venues starting April 4th in Sheffield. Acclaimed guitarist Tommy Emmanuel will return to the UK in March 2019 for a run of dates. Well known for his hugely entertaining live shows, these latest dates follow the release of his Accomplice One album in early 2018. The tour will also feature leading blues guitarist JD Simo, who appears on Accomplice One and with whom Tommy has toured in the USA. Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit have announced a UK headline tour for October 2018. Klara and Johanna Söderberg aka First Aid Kit will be joined by Watford's finest The Staves on the dates which are in support of their most recent album 'Ruins' which was released earlier this year to widespread acclaim and a top three UK chart position. John Oates will visit the UK in October 2018 for a rare run of UK/Eire shows. The dates are in support of his recently released 'Arkansas' album which showed a different side of John Oates the singer and songwriter. John will be touring with members of The Good Road Band and these dates are a very rare opportunity to see John perform live outside of Hall & Oates especially here in the UK. The Long Road Festival, which is set for 7th-9th September 2018 in Leicestershire, has announced additional names for the, highly anticipated, inaugural event. Ward Thomas, Luke Winslow-King and Charlie Worsham are among the acts added to an already impressive line-up that features Lee Ann Womack, The Shires, The Wandering Hearts and Billy Bragg. Gretchen Peters has a new album on the way and to coincide with the release of 'Dancing with the Beast' on May 18th, via Proper Records, she will embark on an extensive run of touring with dates stretching into August. Gretchen is always welcome this side of the pond and since the release of the superb 'Blackbirds' in 2015 her profile is at an all-time high. The 'Queen of Oklahoma' Carter Sampson will be in the UK this May for a short run of dates. Sampson will be joined by fellow 'Okie' and 'Hard Working American' Jesse Aycock and from California Lauren Barth (but I'm sure they won't hold that against her). Aycock and Barth will perform as a duo and also accompany Sampson during her set. Carter Sampson has a new album 'Lucky' set for May 25th, the follow up to her widely acclaimed 'Wilder Side' release. Three up and coming female songwriters from the UK have banded together for the 'Write Like A Girl' tour coming soon to a venue near you in May 2018. The ladies in question are Emily Faye, Beth Keeping and Vic Allen who will be performing in a Nashville style writers round with a local artist sitting in with them at each stop on the tour (Liv Austin is pencilled in for the London date). The idea is to promote some of the excellent singer-songwriters that we have in the UK, so please try to get along to a show if you can as it looks like it'll be a great night. The Lake Poets released a new live EP during the festive season. The 5 track EP was recorded 'Live At The Sage' late in 2016 and features the string section of the Young Musicians Programme. Marty Longstaff aka The Lake Poets will be out on tour in April / May of 2018 playing a range of intimate venues throughout the UK. The transatlantic duo of Ben Parker and David Berkeley aka Son Of Town Hall will tour the UK in March of 2018. The duo live in a world of Victorian costumes and songs that relate to bygone times. It all seems a little strange at first glance but works quite wonderfully thanks to superior songwriting and glorious harmonies. On the evidence of a recent David Berkeley solo show when Ben Parker got up for a short Son Of Town Hall set they're terrific live, so please try to get along to a show if you can. Sierra Hull will return to the UK later this month for a run of shows. The bluegrass singer-songwriter and mandolin virtuoso will be supporting her recent 'Weighted Mind' album which garnered great reviews. The dates include a London show at Bush Hall and a slot at the Maverick Festival. Sierra will be joined by duo partner Ethan Jodziewicz on these dates. Acclaimed North Carolina Americana / Folk trio Underhill Rose will return to the UK and Ireland in June 2017. The dates are in support of 'Live' a new album due June 30th which features songs from their previous albums in a new light. Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds will be bringing their acoustic show to Europe in early 2017 with a run of dates that kick off with a two night stand at the Eventim Apollo in London. This is a rare opportunity to witness 'An Evening With Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds' as the duo play songs and tell stories. Billy Bragg and Joe Henry will tour the UK in November in support of the upcoming album on Cooking Vinyl 'Shine A Light' which we featured recently at Red Guitar Music. Maverick Festival and Blue House Music are pleased to announce that highly acclaimed Americana / Folk act The Stray Birds have a headline show at St. Peter's By The Waterfront in Ipswich UK on Saturday October 22nd. Canadian blues-soul artist Matt Andersen returns to the UK for a solo tour in October which will include a London show upstairs at The Garage. The dates are in support of his recent album 'Honest Man' which was released earlier this year on True North Records to terrific reviews.
Bloodshot Records artist Al Scorch will embark on a UK tour in September with Jess McIntosh on fiddle and vocals. The banjo-wielding singer-songwriter from Chicago is touring in support of his 'Circle Round The Signs' album. Scorch has been dubbed "The finest country-folk-punk-bluegrass banjo player in the country" by The Huffington Post so it should be a great show.
Indie-Folk quartet Darlingside will visit the UK in July for a short tour to coincide with the UK release of 'Birds Say' which is out July 15th via Thirty Tigers. The band were recently voted Artist Of The Year by Folk Alliance International and it will be their first visit to our shores.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean....banjo. The HillBenders out of Springfield, Missouri will be visiting the UK to perform Tommy - A Bluegrass Opry a full-length version of the classic rock opera by The Who. Dates include a London show at the Union Chapel. The show has been a hit in the USA with positive reviews in the likes of Rolling Stone.
The acclaimed trio of Emily Barker, Amber Rubarth and Amy Speace collectively known as Applewood Road are about to set out on a UK tour with Mary Chapin Carpenter that will also see them perform additional shows at the Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk festivals.
