Blue Oyster Cult have announced a run of UK dates for February 2019 with special guests The Temperance Movement. The eight date tour starts in Norwich and includes a London show at Eventim Apollo which, coincidentally, was the venue when I first caught the band live on their 'Revolution By Night' tour in 1984. Tickets are on sale from 10am on Friday 27th July. A little more about BOC and those tour dates follows:
The Sheepdogs are fast becoming a favourite here at RGM towers. Their recent ‘Changing Colours’ album is a must listen for classic rock fans who enjoy the likes of The Allman Brothers and The Band. The thing that really cemented our interest in the band was a stunning show at the Borderline last year (review). The guys are fantastic live so it’s great to share the news that the band will be touring the UK with Rival Sons in Jan/Feb 2019. Please read on for the tour dates, the video for the infectious ‘Saturday Night’ and more about The Sheepdogs:
The annual Stone Free Festival is returning to the O2 in London for a third year. The first announcement of acts for the 2018 festival features a cool mix of prog, blues and hard rock acts including many 2018 UK exclusive performances. On June 16th German rockers Scorpions will perform with thrash act Megadeth as special guests. June 17th finds YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman closing the festival with support from ex Supertramp mainman Roger Hodgson and blues guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor. Many more acts will be added so this is looking like a great weekend. More info about the festival and a host of other things happening at the O2 over the Stone Free weekend follows:
In these days of fleeting one-hit wonders and reality TV, when the average attention span is measured in seconds, the fact that a band can announce a 50th anniversary tour is to be applauded. Jethro Tull are up there with the likes of The Rolling Stones, who they appeared with in 1968 at the ill-fated Rock and Roll Circus event, in the longevity stakes. Ian Anderson has led his troops through the decades rarely making a musical mistake and the result is a very impressive body of work which will be celebrated early next year. The latest line-up of the band with Anderson at the helm will perform a run of shows in the UK in April 2018. Tour dates and ticket details follow:
For fans of Toto 2018 looks to be a banner year as the band celebrate their 40th Anniversary. To start the ball rolling European dates have been announced for early in 2018 and to coincide Sony Legacy will release a remastered hits set, that will include newly recorded material. The band are rumoured to have extensive plans in place to mark the anniversary, with talk of deluxe remastered editions of their classic albums and a box set in the works. I'm hopeful, as a big fan, that all these things will come to fruition, especially with the news that the band are fully involved in the upcoming releases. Please read on for much more about Toto and those all important tour dates with tickets on sale from June 20th:
Hard to believe that Mr. Big released their debut album nearly thirty years ago but the band are still going strong with the release of their latest record 'Defying Gravity' earlier this year on the Frontiers label. The quartet rejoined with original producer Kevin Elson for the sessions and the album was completed in just six days. Mr. Big will bring the 'Defying Gravity' tour to the UK in November with Irish rock act The Answer and sleaze rockers Faster Pussycat along for the ride. Full dates and an extensive look at Mr. Big follows:
70's inspired classic rock act Cats In Space will be touring the UK in September 2017 and the dates will include three shows at The Borderline in London (this is kinda cool as acts rarely play a residency these days). The tour will support the Cats upcoming album 'Scarecrow' which is due in August. So if you were impressed by the band on the recent Thunder tour, or just love great tunes with loads of harmonies, tickets for the shows are onsale from 10 AM on Friday, June 2nd. Those Cats In Space tour dates and a press release with obligatory Cat puns a plenty follows:
Cheap Trick will return to the UK for a short run of dates in June of 2017. The quartet formed in 1973 but are showing no signs of slowing down after the success of their acclaimed 17th studio album 'Bang,Zoom,Crazy...Hello' released last year. Those dates and a little more about Cheap Trick follows:
